Description

“Energy,” explores the elements of Mother Earth, and the reflection of her inner world. Additionally, holding connection through harmony and spirituality, the internal world being the power of what we see within the external world. Inspiration found with deep connection to Egyptian culture. The sunflowers, represent the afterlife, Erykah’s grandpa lives on within the gardens, within the “blooms” that symbolise the resurrection of life and death. Sunflowers naturally follow the sun, and to Erykah holds importance of the flower, perceiving sunflowers as a symbol of guidance and eternal presence, just as Erykah’s papou, Eric Giannakis, has guided her through life. The Ankh, ties into this piece, as the “key of life” and the cycle of existence: Life, death and the cycle of rebirth.

“Energy” was showcased within an art exhibition in Collingwood, VIC, “It Comes With Who I am” depicting themes of “Identity.”
